Located west of St. Helena the comfortable, contemporary House was designed as a sanctuary where we could disconnect and relax. The old-world foundation is infused with modern sensibility in a private hilltop aerie. The many quiet spaces enjoy Napa Valley views, a beautiful ravine and Saint Helena while grounded by the neighboring vineyard. It was designed to take full advantage of the southern exposure on a winter day and the afternoon western breezes on a summer afternoon. At night the lights of St. Helena twinkle companionably in the distance. The natural building materials compliment it’s setting. The indoor/ outdoor home design creates numerous living spaces and the design would evolve to accommodate alternative needs utilizing unfinished spaces.
We conceived of the design of the home based upon traveling in Italy, to be a small Italian Village, with maximum views from the various buildings and numerous large size windows, as well as the outdoor patio areas close to equaling the square footage of the inside of the home. Substantially all of the views from the buildings are of natural open space. Note. Clark Gable and Carol Lombard honeymooned on the northwest hill above the vineyard.
